The Enabler

I have discovered a source of my inability to refrain from eating my weight in chocolate...my mother. The afore mentioned snake in the grass called me this evening,

"Do you want anything from the store for dessert?", she taunted.

"No thanks", I replied through gritted teeth.

"Are you sure?" I could feel my resistance fading.

"No thank you. I am abstaining", I replied with as much resolve as I could muster.

"Well thanks, now you make me feel bad".

WHAT?? Now I have to eat to make her feel better??? Then she whines when her jeans don't fit and she wonders why we are overweight. Perhaps we are both the enablers? Snakes in the grass waiting to lure each other to the forbidden fruit, or in this case, the forbidden chocolate cake.

P.S. Special K for breakfast and lunch is unbelievably boring, but at least they have a chocolate flavor.

A beginning...

I have finally decided that it is time to go in a new direction. I'm saying this now, for all the world (or just myself because I don't expect anyone else to read this) to see: I'm an overeater. I'm a sucker for chocolate in any form and I'm never one to pass up a trip to McDonald's. and. most importantly, I'm a stress eater. Now, to be fair I'm not confined to my bed or stuck in my house. I've always been on the "chubby" side, but after the birth of my daughter and subsequent "baby blues", and the stress of taking care of a baby and then the stress of leaving her father, things have gotten a bit out of control. My daughter turns two next month and my hope is to take her to the beach, play outside with her, and not be embarass or have her be embarassed of me. Here is my New Year's resolution of sorts. I know that's incredibly cliche, but maybe, just maybe, this blog, writing it all out, will finally give me the motivation to achieve my goals. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to help people and maybe those people will be able to help me. I've got my boxes of Special K ready to go and my moms old Richard Simmons video tapes in my ancient VCR. Let's see what happens!
